Interpreting
What kind of interpreting services do you offer?
You can make requests for In-Person, Virtual, and Phone Interpretation for appointments of all kinds (legal, medical, educational, therapy appointments, etc.) Many of our native language interpreters are court certified and trained for Trauma-Informed interpretation.
Simultaneous and Consecutive interpretation for conferences and large events is also available for an increased fee.
Please e-mail info@ticenterdenver.com if you need more information about arranging a simultaneous interpreting equipment rental for your event.
How can I Schedule an Interpreter?
To Schedule an Interpreter, fill out and submit the request form on our “Schedule Interpreter” page.
After we receive your request form, we will confirm receipt via email and reach out to our interpreter network. We will then update you as soon as possible to let you know if we can fill your request.
Once an interpreter is assigned, you will receive a calendar invitation to your e-mail address confirming the appointment.
How much does it cost to Schedule An Interpreter?
Our pricing differs based on the person making the request. We offer discounted rates to Non-Profit Agencies and may have grants available for victims of crime.
All of our appointment requests require a 2 hour minimum. The base hourly rate for an interpreter can range from $65 – $100 an hour, depending on the language requested and the individual certifications of the interpreter.
Other factors that may impact final cost include: additional travel compensation, Simultaneous Interpretation and Simultaneous Interpreting Equipment rentals, and Rush Requests (made less than 24 hour before the appointment).
Please e-mail info@ticenterdenver.com for a detailed quote or for additional questions regarding pricing and available grants.
How much notice is needed to schedule an interpreter?
Our agency works with local independent contractors who are available based on their individual schedules. We do not have interpreters on-call or in-house. Because of this, we ask that requests are made with as much notice as possible.
For Requests for Spanish, we would appreciate 4-5 days minimum prior notice to secure an interpreter.
For Requests for Languages other than Spanish, we would appreciate one week (7 days) minimum prior notice to secure and interpreter.
For Requests for ASL, we would appreciate 2 weeks minimum prior notice to secure an interpreter.
(Please note that the above is a general estimate of the time needed to coordinate with our interpreters and not a guarantee that an interpreter will definitely be available for all request submissions made within these time frames.)
I have a last minute Rush Request. Can I still submit a request form to schedule an interpreter?
While we cannot guarantee that all last minute requests will be filled, you are welcome to submit requests at any time and we will do our best to secure an interpreter for you. Request submissions that are made less than 24 hours before the requested appointment time are considered Rush Requests.
Please note that a Rush Fee will be added to confirmed Rush Requests (confirmed meaning that an interpreter has been assigned and you have received a calendar invitation). The Rush Fee is 25% of the hourly rate.
How do I cancel my interpreter request?
If you need to cancel a confirmed appointment, please e-mail info@ticenterdenver.com as soon as possible.
Is there a fee for canceling an interpreter request?
Cancellations that take place 3 days before the confirmed appointment time will not be charged. Cancellations that take place <48 hours before the confirmed appointment will be charged according to our Late Cancellation Policy. (See below)
What is your Late Cancellation Policy?
If an interpreter has already been assigned and confirmed to a request, we charge for late cancellations.
If a late cancellation occurs <48 hours before the appointment time, we charge for 50% of the reserved time.
If the late cancellation takes place <24 hours before the appointment, we will charge the full amount for the reserved time.
When will additional travel charges be applied?
In the past two years, requests from our interpreters for additional travel compensation for In-Person appointments have understandably increased due to the pandemic and high gas prices, especially for appointments which require longer travel outside of the Denver Metro area.
We do our best to advocate for our local independent contractor interpreters for travel compensation when it is requested.
If travel compensation is being requested, you will always be notified before the interpreter is confirmed.
How is travel compensation calculated?
At the moment we are using the IRS’s standard rate for mileage reimbursement as a reference. The rate is currently .58 per mile traveled. The Translation & Interpreting Center does not take any portion of the travel compensation that is requested – It all goes directly to our linguists. The amount requested will ultimately depend on the interpreter’s specific needs for the specific appointment.
